An illustrative list of the public demonstrations held or supported by Voices Against 377:

March 8, 2008: Million Voices Campaign marking International Women’s Day, Jantar Mantar, New Delhi. (Click here for media coverage)

April 5-6, 2006: Queer contingent /support, Hunger Strike by Medha Patkar, Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA), Jantar Mantar, New Delhi.

March 2, 2006: Queer contingent /support, Left opposition to the US President Bush visit to India.

January 12, 2006: Public protest outside the Uttar Pradesh Bhavan in New Delhi against the arrest of four men under Section 377 in Lucknow.

July 1, 2004: Demonstration against Section 377 at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi.

  • With the launch of the Delhi Pride March in 2008 as well as other similar initiatives across the country, most members of Voices Against 377 are a part of these initiatives and have successfully mobilized a wider constituency. This has fulfilled Voices’ larger objective of giving constituency and concerns a public presence.

  • Voices Against 377 members have also participated in several TV shows and media coverage during and in relation to the High Court and Supreme Court case.
